Well, I like to map, but I'm really not that great at it. I like to be organized and I don't think a map has room for organization because the world isn't like that so why should a game world be like that? I'm having trouble on what to do, what to map first (city's/islands). I'm really not sure on how to do this. Should I just map what I need then connect it using grass and cliffs and add islands like that? Not sure, so maybe you can tell me your strategies and how you do things. Also a helpful way to add locations would be great too, I use tags and teleport it to that tag when they enter and save their last location so they can spawn there when they exit a building.
I like to consider myself a decent mapper, so I have some advice.

The two biggest rules I go by with mapping are:

1.) Make it natural; Don't use even numbers of things that often and try not to center things.

2. AVOID SHARP EDGES AND CORNERS!
- This is a biggy because it looks very unprofessional when you have a lot of corners. (Eample below)

Avoid symmetrically sides and primary shapes.

Yash has a horrible habit of making things symmetrically. -_-
I can't see your example, also Smoosh is right I do have a tendency of making stuff symmetrical
Never have things in a line. Especially trees.
That is also another thing I need to work on, I avoid it but it ends up being in a line or some order argh!
