Here is a production message about the game.

As the main version peeks around the corner, we are making a ton of changes. The quest system in the demo will be used for side quests that you can repeat till your heart's content.
There will be a main story that will have points where you have to make choices. These choices will lead to your growth with either the Returners or the Empire. There will be a third option, the Espers, at a later point in the game.
Unlike older games I have made, you will not continually go to new areas to fight harder monsters and progress through the game.
The game uses a monster level up system. The monsters will get stronger as you complete the main quests. Some side quests may give them a small boost as well. This allows for many things. I can reuse areas for new quests as story lines sometimes do have you go back to an area to deal with unfinished business. This also helps keep the game's challenge up for players that tend to grind out levels faster then updates. The new update won't come in being way too easy for these players, thus keeping them from getting bored as fast as in other games. If the main story quests are completed there will still be the side quests that can be done over and over for repeatable rewards.
Character recoloring will be returned sometime. It is being replanned into an easier and quicker system to use. 12 colors was a bit to shift through and could be problematic as not all sprites use the full colors. It also limits the use of new sprites into the game. The new system will work with all sprites.
Shops will be getting a major change too. For the demo the shops upgraded gear when you leveled up five levels up to about level 60. With the new world layout I will be able to actually assign shops their own wares. It is possible to have each shop sell two different lists so they can have an upgrade for later in the story.
Another issue in the demo was having no direction in what to do. The demo was laid out so players could just go where ever and do whatever. The main version having a story line will help guide players to a goal so they don't always feel lost. Right from the start players will have a goal to complete and finishing that will show them the next goal and so on. Players can always veer off that path for a moment to do some side quests.

Yes, that is a lot of information for a first production report, but there is a lot going into the game. Let's see how version 3 turns out when it is released this spring.
Merry Christmas, or gtfo.
