Its a chance when yur hp drops below 10% or at 10%. Best way is to go near a few enemies and let em kick yur ass. Set a sub when yur hp is 50%, as soon as yu die activate sub to a side and turn Intangibility on so they dont kill yu and run to a safe place. Make sure yu sub quick, dont wanna waste yur Izangi life.

Well basically you have to be beaten till your health is at 10% as tobi to become serious mode I think. But sometime you don't want to be beaten to much to the point you die. So you should be careful.
