Implementing this feature is not possible now or in the foreseeable future
Basically what the title says. BYOND would be a whole lot more powerful if we could make maps have negative location values. This could open up the possibility of really easy infinite maps. Additional functionality that would also be nice would be the ability to increase/decrease world.minx, world.miny variables or something along the lines of that.
It's much better than moving the world northeast each time you want to expand south/west. This would definitely open up "infinite" maps a bit more, though it's still limited to 1000x1000xsomething.
I don't see this being very feasible, except in some implementation of seamless map joining. That's an issue I've considered quite a bit in the past. Internally though, there's no such thing as a turf with negative or zero coords.
I would opt for something like this, for a truly "infinite" map.
That's the issue I was thinking of.
