Hello everyone,

I'm currently interested on installing any kind of Linux (I don't have a lot of experience with it) and using an old desktop as a dedicated server. Can anyone provide me with a full, step-by-step guide on how to install some sort of Linux which runs DD?

My goal is to have such a server that displays on the hub with no key.

Thanks in advance!

Generally speaking, installing Linux distros themselves are extremely easy, click click done.
Is it possible to not have a GUI, but still be able to host games using DD?
Sure. Just pick the appropriate install options not to include a desktop, or use a server install disk.

As it goes though, I install the UI anyway as it's pretty cheap on system resources, and the command line is available either way.

I remember the days when people laughed at you if you wanted to install Linux without any experience, I'm really glad things have changed as much as they have, it really makes Linux accessible to people.
Ubuntu's desktop install is so simple, I'm pretty sure my mum could do it at this point.
The issue somewhat with CentOS (but doesn't affect BYOND) is usually slow package inclusion into their repositories, seen as it's a stability focused distribution. If you're a development kinda guy, this is quite the pain.
