History in Wargames:

Religion was a largely undeveloped feature which I really need to expand upon. Other than an option at the beginning of the game, which you couldn't change, there was only really two features:

The first is that the main selections had special units, first one, two then finally 3 units unique to that faith. The other was the religious report showing a pie chart divided by the largest religions and how many people were under it.

---

Currently in 2.0:

No special units currently in the game, its still a selection at the start, and the report page is still there. 'Religious Fervour' is a new feature which is intended to document religions and its power in game. It is currently altered only by the number of adherents, and if a national ideology is Zealot (+bonus) or Liberal (-bonus). This will be fleshed out later for further features but currently effects nothing.

----

Intended features:

Naturally, units will some day come back when the game goes far back enough with units to warrant it.

Religious buildings was always planned, but never implemented, this will definately be in at some point but its actual use is undecided. It will likely play into the religious fervour figure.

Religious fervour could have various abilities. It could have combat bonuses against other faiths (perhaps more for other religions with high fervour), more adherents if buildings are linked to # of believers, and also acting as an endgame "This group has won" as an alternative goal to alliance or combat domination.
