Interface icon size?

So I was reading Falacy's programming tutorial and on chapter nine he talks about an "icon for your interface".

I have the icon set but it seems to be blurry. I tried to edit an icon down to 16x16 but it still looks kind of stretched...

Is there a specific size for interface icons?

It's hard to tell what you want, but are you talking about the icon that shows in your Windows Toolbar at the bottom of the screen? (Assuming you use windows)
