hi, i want to make a happiness system.. but where you can take and make a new reference at any time.

say you were playing a game, and they had a happiness system and when it was really high or low or w/e (at any time) you could hit a verb that lets you set a name for that time.. this verb would take that name, and your current happiness into one variable and when you went to use another verb that mainly used happiness, you could use the one you just referenced with the last verb.

I am working on a happiness/reference system for my hogwarts/harry-potter game.
see in the harry potter world, you have a spell called Expecto Patronum which is a spell which uses a happy thought of your selection to create a defensive barrier (or if its strong enough, a projectile instead of a barrier) this barrier/projectile is used to get rid of Dementor's.

I'm not sure that I understood what you meant to say, but it sounds like you could make good use of associative lists.
