Hey, I was just battling with freewebs for uploading my ZIP file on to make my game downloadable. Unfortunately it seems I can't upload there. Is there any other site that's free that I can use to host my game?

You don't even need to sign up, just upload the zip and copy the link they give you.

That's awesome!

However when I try to download the game to host, the unzip fails. :s

Yeah, some sites aren't don't work well with BYOND. Becoming a member and using the file storage given works. The only other site I know of that works is http://www.ripway.com/

BYOND, like other programs/links/people that needs to download something, loves sites that links direcctly to the file and not go through a verification step or something.

The reason why he is getting an unzip fail message is not due to the site, it is due to the person NOT ZIPPING VIA DM (which is done through Build > Package Files > 1st option for hosting)

I did do that.

I am interested in a BYOND membership. However for the time being I just want to have my game downloadable, as luckily it seems to be quite successful :)

So I guess there's no non-payable option for now?

There are a couple hosts that sound like they should work in this list, but I have never used any of them.

I managed to find one that works well for byond by searching the forums: http://www.skydrive.live.com/

It's free, and I'm using it right now (for this game).

Just in case, zip your game host file via Build > Package File > First option.

As stated before, this error (from what I have seen) happens when you zip manually instead of doing the mentioned method. So in case, re-zip your game through the method mentioned at the top and see what happens

Yes, that's what I did originally; and just did again to make sure. Still the same message: UNZIP FAILED. But why?

Click on that link. You go to a webpage. You don't start downloading a zipfile, so it doesn't work.

Use this link instead I got it directly off the file on that page you linked to by right clicking and copy link location in firefox. So anything you upload get the link directly from the file, not from that file manager page.

Yeah, that's the link you have to use (although I remove the ?download at the end).
Screw all of that, goto 000webhost.com, If you know html and/or any other language you can make your own site from scratch and have FTP freedom!
