Any idea why Guilds aren't back yet? I missed them and it was easier to navigate to your favorite genre game.
Guilds were removed because they segregated the community too much. They were done away with in an effort to merge the community into a central hub (the main forums). As to why they aren't "back yet," I don't think anyone said they were going to come back to begin with.

As for finding a game of a certain genre, the tag system was implemented just for this reason. All you have to do is click on a tag that interests you and it'll display all of the games of that genre.

Every time we have this discussion, someone winds up threatening to commit certain salacious acts with another's [insert female relative here].

Frankly, the features were a bad move for BYOND, which Tom has repeatedly stated, and about 90% of our jobs here as moderators is cleaning up threads arguing about blogs and guilds.

Yes, the majority of users on this site indicate they want the feature back. Yes, we have this conversation monthly. No, it has never swayed Tom's opinion. No, it's unlikely to ever come back. No, it won't save BYOND.

BYOND wasn't profitable when we had the guilds and blogs. It's still not profitable.

Just further shows that this 'new overhaul' accomplished absolutely nothing.

The same was said back in 2011 when blogs were at their end. /thread
Actually BYOND is doing a lot better financially now than in years prior, and the maintenance is a lot easier. We can't please everyone but I think we're headed in the right direction. We'll see what happens when we get the web stuff out pretty soon.
Way to steal my /thread there, Tom. But yeah, that's good to hear that half the goal is at least putting us in a less dire situation.
