I don't know how much has changed - I don't know what progress was made. but I did noticed there's been fewer people then the last time I checked the game out.

A few months back, fooling around, I gave a small crack at something MJ "inspired". There's nothing official, I don't know if I'll ever finish and no, I am not going to release the content I do have, but I thought some people might like to see what I did.

The first thing I did was fooled around with the tiles. The original MJ suffered from mis-matched, fat tiles. Given the date the original game came out, that was pretty much par for the course. I got some old RPG Maker assets and made them fit fairly well. Unfortunately, with the way the tiles are and the way pixel step is set-up, players walk smoothly, but most NPC(s) don't have a full walk animation.

I also thought MJ could have used more races for the game. I got humans and genders down, but I also recently completed the 'Lizard-Folk' race. I think they look kind of neat and add something to the game. Other ideas and concepts that haven't been finished are 'Lion-Kin', which are obviously some sort of lion humanoid and 'Changelings', which would have some sort of demonic presence.

Yes, as you can see, people start out "nude". I don't have any plans on fixing that. And yes, one of the characters has some hair from Dragonball Z. I like that hair, what you gonna do about it?

You'll notice some old MJ gear in there, while also seeing some new stuff as well. Honestly most of the assets used in the game, are freely available through the Chara's Project. I designed a randomly generated equipment system, so while you might find the same style or kind of armor, they might contain bonus buffs to them as well.

You can see from some basic shops, all of the stuff for sale is on counters in markets. The original concept was to have different stuff generated every time a space was empty, but I am having a little trouble with that.

I included a series of new potions of varying strengths as well as a fruit stand, which offers cheap food, that heals small amounts of health.

That's about all I did, my interest in BYOND comes and goes so I kind of play around with it any time I get the urge.
