anyone know any free file hosting sites like fileave.com that give you direct links?
Dropbox is really good one.
It gives 2GB free space which can be used for public and private file hosting. You'll need to download small application, but once you do, one folder in your computer becomes linked, and program will automatically synchronize any changes.

i've had dropbox for a while, but i have no idea how to get a direct link for a .zip file, you have any idea how?

You should be able to right-click or something on a file and choose to make it public. That should give a link you can use.

Did you put it into Public folder? Right click the file Dropbox>Get Public Link. Please keep in mind you have to keep Dropbox application running.
