So i've been working on this base that I had from a while ago, right now I am attempting three different attack animations for the base... a jab, a straight, and a high kick.... I've done the jab from the side and it looks pretty nice but I'm still looking for CC if you see anything... manly I need help with this kick I am trying t just animate the final frame or climax frame and then work from there but cannot seem to get it right something seems off about the way the weight is balanced or maybe the way the body is stretched im not sure... http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/z/ fighter-doing-high-kick-illustration-32871502.jpg this is my reference...

Here's the animation so far, came out better than I thought but seems to still lack power IMO, and the climax frame still looks off to me.
Aside from the foot on your guy not looking outstretched (too short) on the final frame, those are some really smooth and good looking animations. Good work.
Remove the first in-between frame between the foot down and the kick up position. Make it an instant transition from ground to apex to give the illusion of more power.

Helpful Topic on Animation
The problem is that there need to be no in-between frames between the standing position and the apex of the kick. If you add any preliminary frames between it, you run the risk of losing any impact it might appear to have. This is especially key if you want the kick to convey an instant damage attack. Having a delay between the animation and the actual damage causes psychological latency issues, which isn't good.

Now, if you want to add a preliminary frame as a "wind-up" to a stronger attack, that's fine, but otherwise, you don't want to do it. Animation doesn't have to seem completely realistic.
I correct myself, not the first in-between frame, but the second. The frame where the leg is moving up but isnt fully outstretched. Remove that frame and it'll look fine.
Sorry i haven't gotten back you guys but Katz I think I see what you mean... But to clarify you think I should keep the frame of him raising his leg into the the extension but take out the first of the two frames where the leg is extended but not fully extended?
Yeah, try that out and post that so we can check out how it looks. If all else fails, just post the sprite frames for the entire animation, that way I can see exactly what's going on. But what I suggested should make it a lot better. It's okay to leave that mid-frame when he's placing his foot back on the ground. A really explosive start and a smooth finish should be awesome.
