Any tips or tricks for getting images to render with greater fidelity? You can see the undesirable chunkiness in this screenshot that basically prevents this sort of effect from being viable even at smaller scales.


I've always thought start big and scale down was the way to go, but Nadrew told me that starting small and scaling up actually works better with DM and I've seen some success and some failure with it, have you tried both?

I do remember following that discussion and have tried a number of things including no scaling at all. I might be able to add some additional background noise to conceal the edges.

Big to small works better for clearer images.

Small to big works better if you WANT the image to be interpolated for effects like lighting cookies.

This is a big to small case, not a small to big case.
