Consider making it so ctrl+f populates the Find dialog 'Find text' field with the presently selected string thus overwriting any existing value in the already open 'Find text' field.
I'm constantly having to close the dialog and then reapply ctrl+f to get the new value added.
Quality of dev life thing.
To take it one step further, if the value is the same, perform operations in F3. This will allow quick searches without large hand/mouse movements.

Although I'm open to this, I suspect there are quite a few people who would complain if the behavior were changed, asking for it to go the other way.
