I tried starting with compat mode with win xp and 95,ran as admin,my directory also does'nt have any unusual characters.
I'd try turning compatibility mode off; you don't need it.

The most common cause for this under Windows 10 is if OneDrive has taken over your documents folder and it's mounted on the network. If so, you need to remove it from OneDrive. Or, you can go into the registry and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Dantom\BYOND and change the "userpath" value to a new folder (you should create that folder first) that OneDrive doesn't control.
