Turning an overlay

I was trying to use the turn proc on an overlay today and it wasn't working. I noticed there was about 3 different ways to use the turn proc, which way do you use with overlays?

What I want to turn is src.overlays, unless that isn't possible.

Also, for clothing, is it better to change the icon of a person to different clothing, or to add an overlay of clothing? Once you have the clothing on, you don't need to remove it.

For your 2nd question..Overlays would be better in the case that you have alot of different "races", saving work a bit.

Yes, but in my case? There's only a male and a female icon, and a set if clothing for males and females.
