I loved the preview event (even though the registration was frustrating)! The gameplay capture DnD maybe not in it's fullest, but at least better than any other DnD game out there.

I loved the ending of the event, they closed it with a bang (they spawned various monsters of great strength all over the place! EG: Beholders)

Anyone else thinking about getting it?

Maybe. I haven't looked into it yet, so I don't know enough about it.
What exactly is it? Is it like any other Online game that sucks, or is it like a graphical version of BTG where people can make quests and stuff and actully GM the game and the like?

If thats the case, count me in.

Linkage please.

It's an MMORPG... I guess you wouldn't really like it.
it's not any good to anyone who's played a few MMORPG's before... it's rather bland and not much to do in comparison. It requires grouping, so if you like to solo don't go for it.

Thought ought have just made it what it's called - DnD Online! One person could DM and create his own world, and players could join it. The DM could choose to enforce RPing or not.

That would be delish.

There is a game like that. Its called "Neverwinter Nights".

Beat me to it.
I enjoyed the game because it made you have to be active in combat, knowing when to block and dodge and also how every class has it's usefulness, i'm mainly interested in how wicked the traps and dungeons get in the higher level instances. The down side of the game was the lack of PvP which will make the end-game a little bland.

or, in BYOND's community: BYOND Tabletop Gaming.

:p

Ah yeah! Digitalmouse or anyone else: Do you know of any system that's simpler to implement than d20? I don't want to spend 3/4 of the time calculating damage and being precise. I prefer complete open-ended pen-n-paper rpg's, but those can get a little "meh" and frustrating when it comes to certain things, ESPECIALLY battle.

I played a game that was all d12. All dice where d12. Not too bad, but kinda got annoying to roll 20d12 and what not.

Like, I know nothing of d20, but it looks really confusing! XD

I want something with like... Dex, Agi, Str, Luk, Vit, Int... and a battle system :P

Maybe some premade items and stuff :D

GURPS uses a D6 system, everything uses 6 sided dice, nothing more.

You can even get the lite version for free from their offical site.

Thanks :)

The one has nothing to do with the other. d20 doesn't have you spending a lot of time on damage calculation. If you attack, it's a simple attack roll and damage roll. If you do them together, like the rulebooks suggest, it's a single dice toss that takes 1 or 2 seconds.

Well, during the public beta, there was this one bitch of a trap that had my party stuck for quite a while.

It was a corridor, with a rest shrine at the other end. However, if one crosses the corridor, four heads pop out of the walls and spew poison at the center. Whenever someone touches this poison, they must succeed with a fortitude saving throw to prevent any temporary damage dealt to their Str. The party sorceror happened to get hit, and was over-encumbered within seconds. Of course, I, the party cleric moved over to save him... however I got stuck too. We ended up trying to figure a way out (Rogue couldn't disarm the trap) for half an hour before deciding to give up and use the /death command.

There was this other trap, even more complex, however is more intimidating than it is effective...

So a hallway comes to a dead end. There are rectangular depressions at the side, producing a sort of a miniature bridge at the center. Once the trap is set, blades swing in a circle in the depression, and rows after rows of spikes spring up. My entire party ended up getting killed by this one, because our motivation to get across was the first chest we had encountered in the dungeon.

hard to clasify what is 'easier' or 'simplier' to play, as everyone is different. i've tried out a few of the following free pen-n-paper systems. many of them would convert to a system like BYOND Tabletop Gaming without too much work.

I was hoping the game would allow players to create their own dungeons. It would be something other large online games have not done yet, and it seems like one of the aspects of the classic game that made it so fun. Such games as Neverwinter Nights does allow it, but you have to host your own server and it is different from the massive online games.

Without the ability to create your own dungeons, the game does not seem to offer much to have it stand out, besides a few traps in their dungeons. Hopefully, they will come out with an exspansion pack to allow this ability, or some other game realizes the awesome oppurtunity for it and does it themselves.

The closest that I know a game has come to it is City of Villians, which allows you to create your own base that has traps. Which is a very neat idea.

Cool! :D
