Minstrel barriers have 3 enemies that the barriers don't work quite right for. Blobs, multi-tile Knights, and Spear wielders in Ninja land. For Knights and spear carriers if they hit a barrier with a weapon (and it registers it sometimes slips through (both)) The icon breaks and sword/spear don't work any longer. On the blob if you hit it with the barrier just as it jumps it goes hollow, invincible but still able to eat people until its next jump. Also (not a bug) Dragon winds cause the barriers to lose hp I don't personally think this should happen.
This was annoying me, too. I've changed it in version 1.26 so that wind will no longer break a barrier, but a barrier won't protect you from being pushed around, either. Also, barriers won't protect from any other persistent projectiles, such as spears and swords. The blobs will have to wait for a more extensive fix of everything that's wrong with them.
