For about 3 hours I have been trying to join a game, but no luck. I try'd many other games thinking it was just the one, but same thing. I have try'd so much in fact this is a portion of what I got.

Actually, I seem to be suffering from these technical difficulties as well. Something to do with BYOND as a whole, most likely.

That used to happen to me until I uninstalled the whole byond and then reinstalled. Though that might be drastic.

The central BYOND servers are probably experiencing some difficulty. It'll get better on its own, eventually.

You could try restarting byond.exe when this happens, it's worked for me loads of times.

BYOND>File>Exit>Reopen>Try Again
