Using 56k? Using a cell phone? Though most don't seem to know about it, there -is- a text-based version of the dev. forum available at http://developer.byond.com/forum/miniforum.cgi.
While on the subject of speeding things up, know that in many cases, your DM project could be compiling a lot faster than it currently is. If you aren't already using it, try the third method suggested by Jtgibson (then using the key "Spuzzum") in the dev. forum post id:273775.

We have some fancy redirect magic that tries to automagically use the miniforum for text and mobile browsers. If yours doesn't default to that when going to the main forum link, let us know along with the date and time you tried to access the forum. We can probably add it to the list.
