Got a 1TB external recently, it's now started dying - it appears to have corrupted its filesystem pretty thoroughly. To the point where chkdsk won't run on the drive.

I had some stuff on it when it died that I'd like back. Anyone got any suggestions for NTFS filesystem recovery software that might do the trick? Ideally, free. While I care, I don't care enough to spend money.

After that, I suppose I'll need to go to the store and find out if the warranty is worth the paper it's written on. Sigh.
Thanks for the tipoff, Flame Sage. Recuva worked great. Took a few days, but everything is now off the drive, and seems to be functional.
