Now now, just because updates don't happen doesn't necessarily mean the game will stop being great. Games such as Icon Ultima, Space Station 13, etc etc all go without updates and remain popular.

I always check into the host before I really get into the game. Try the server without a host name. That one I can vouch for and also try Visser Three's server, he said he was hosting 24/7.
