GIAD + My head = Ouch.
But winning isn't the reason I entered. Such a compressed time frame, you have to bring out as much creativity as you can in order to get something done. And creativity is something that doesn't come to me quickly or easily (especially with those themes, I could have done better with sandwich.)
I managed to submit a semi-complete game. There are a few bugs I noticed but just didn't have the time to fix. I found myself making comments about these things for later, who knows, this small little action game might see a bit of an update post competition, if I can be bothered.
It was a lot of fun to disregard what is commonly referred to as good programming practice and resort to adequate methods in order to get things done.
All in all, it was a fun competition, and I hope it'll be just as fun next year (considering that isometric stuff Lummox was showing off earlier. =D).
For those curious, here's a screenshot of what I submitted (kinda). Screenshot (Hey, I like 0!)

When a mummy and a daddy love each other very much, they produce what we call the spawn of hell. When that hell spawn arises to the earth, it detects lonely internet communities desperate for something new and exciting.
It then produces a very plausible and even somewhat enjoyable idea, at the expense of the health of all who pursue it. While the programmers of BYOND slave away on their games, ignoring food, sleep, hunger, girlfriends, lives and in some peoples cases, their now ex-girlfriend's brothers wedding (*whistle*), this spawn feeds and grows stronger.
And that is how GIAD started. And we can all hope that it continues again year after year (maybe even more times in a year).

In all seriousness, I think Crispy came up with the idea.

This is one of my favorite parts of the contest. For some reason, it feels really good to see a game quickly come together, programming be darned.
I think I spent too much time working on the basic graphics for my game--I'm down to my last 4 hours and I'm not sure if I can complete the gameplay in that time. Regardless, I can't wait to try out the other entries >:)
Any reason you think your game will be disqualified instead of marked (un)playable?
