Just so everybody knows, I've released the beta version of my space conquest game, Solar Conquest, for the public to download, if anyone wants to try it out. It still has some bugs, but it should be perfectly playable for the most part.

You can visit the hub here:

(Screen shots are on the hub entry.)

And if you have anything you want to say about it beyond commenting on this blog, you can discuss it on the forum.

Looking back, I can see that there are a lot of things that I could have done better, especially in the interface department (experience helps, a lot!) and in the gameplay, but the game is still fun to play for a while. And the AI kicks butt.

It gets a little more intense when you realize the AI has just sent a huge fleet to squash one of your planets... and you have nothing in that vicinity which is really capable of defending any of the other nearby planets, either.
It's about time this goes public! I'm going to host a server for a bit, anyone that wants to play on it is more than welcome.
YAY! :D

I wasn't planning to release it since I personally don't think its all that fun (although it gets a little more intense when you're losing against the AI). I just played it the other day and thought, "Hey, this game is perfectly playable. There's no reason why I shouldn't let people play it!"

Incidentally, I've played it one or twice since I've released it and I've noticed a few bugs. I've also realized half a dozen ways to improve the interface, but I don't know if its worth it to focus more energy on this project without a total design overhaul. And I'm not sure I'm up to that.
From what I played it was pretty cool, lost, but pretty cool :p
Wait wait wait wait. You actually released a game? Did hell freeze over?
Its not the first game I've released, just the first one I've released under this key.
its a great game! i played it for a few hours against the AI and noticed that they wouldn't terraform their planets, which gives a human player a very large advantage over the AI. not sure if that was the right place to say it, but.... anyways, great game, i'd love to play on anyones server and see how good everyone else is.
Odd, I was pretty sure they'd terraform their planets as soon as there was a need for it. At least, I think they always did when I played.

Glad you liked it.
