I've been doing game stuff for so long now, that's why I just wanted to try my hands at some sort of scenery. I want to make it look as great as possible.

Here's the basic design so far:

Oldest Version:

Newest Version:

I'll search for some cool references on PixelJoint and will keep updating this.

Okay guys,

So I am trying to help newbies but this contradicts to the fact that I freelance as well, lol.

Anyways, I am posting 3 tutorials which were supposed to be a task given to me by Zete.

Tutorial One: Base

To be honest, I don't think newbies should start with a base as bases are complex and aren't really helpful in improving, so my suggestion would be starting with something else. Yet if anyone wants to learn I am going to teach them(maybe not nicely) how to make the 'South' direction of a 'Male' base.

Special Thanks: To Zane who had shown me the technique to use boxes/quadrilaterals for getting correct shading and perspective.

Read This: http://finalbossblues.com/the-rpg-bases-four-directions/

Tutorial Two: Tree

Trees are pretty difficult to make but taking suggestions and trying to copy styles of people who can make them great is what should be done as it will help you.

Steps:

1. Choose few colors(4-5)from lightest shade to darkest before you start making the actual tree.

2. Select the darkest color and make the shape of the tree.

3. Now select the second darkest color and make as many leaves as possible, but keep perspective in mind.

4. Time to take 3rd darkest color and make more leaves on the previous leaf set you made.

5. Keep repeating previous steps with lighter colors until you are satisfied.

6. The edges of the foliage which were smooth, now should be made a mess(no, not really). Make leaf structures :P

7. If you are satisfied with foliage, stop, take a deep breath and say this to yourself ,"I am satisfied and happy with what I made! I shall be proud of myself!"

You should never be upset if you can't get anything right on the first try. No one can become good artist in 1 go, I am sure even Shakespeare couldn't.

8. Time to make the trunk, which is easiest part. But, I am not going to teach you this as I do it in wrong way because - If you don't use outlines for foliage, you shouldn't use outlines for trunk either. So please learn it from someone else or by yourself.

Speical Thanks: To Zete for teaching how to make trees look much more lively than I used to make them.

Read this: http://www.wayofthepixel.net/index.php?topic=14143.0

Tutorial 3: Grass

Note: The styles for grass tiles and it's details depend completely on you, the type of atmosphere you want to create.

__________________________________________________

Eagerly waiting for some good artists to post more stuff like this :)
__________________________________________________

Comments and Suggestions are welcome!

Also, as Zete already said, he's teaching his students how to pixel and how to improve. You can add him on Skype. If you want to add me on skype: a2j2emerald

Best Regards

The Mystery Villa

"Rejoice, for this is the last day of your life!" Echoed a voice in the room and the doors slammed shut! Everything was invisible to me as the place was filled with darkness. The scene was developing horrific and I felt myself trembling. I was already regretting my visit, and of course...The Bet!

“Hey! Have you heard about the Mystery Villa story?” One of my friends asked. “No?” I replied in an unenthusiastic voice, but rest of my friends were curious and wanted to know more, “What is it?” They asked. And so, my friend began started to perorate the story.

“And no one has ever returned alive from that haunted house,” he ended. Rest of my friends already seemed too fascinated. They started passing comments and talked about what might be the reason behind all this or all of it was just a lie. While they chattered I took my sip of tea as it was our tea break. I put down my cup and sighed, “Another fable story just to get attention of public...What a shame.” And as I completed, I saw every friend of mine staring at me with a plain blunt face, without any expression; I got embarrassed and started to feel awkward when one of my friends broke the silence, “If you think so, why don’t you stay a night in the Villa, all alone?” And then another one said, “I bet he can’t!” I protested, “What if I do!?” “You get a thousand bucks! Deal?” “Deal!”

“What a foolish act had I done just to show bravery...” I thought. Suddenly a candle lit! I recoiled from my thoughts and started wondering how it could lit on its own!? A laugh then startled me; laugh so heavy and deep as if a monster had laughed. It was so heavy and terrifying that I started sweating; beads rolled down through my forehead, my shirt was wet already. I could feel my heartbeats increasing. The light started coming towards me. As it drew closer a shadow started taking shape of a man; I peered and tried to recognize the face but it was still too dark for me to distinguish the face. I withdrew my focus from the light and tried to start thinking about something else so as to relieve myself from this fear, but I could not help myself. Then suddenly another candle lit! And then another and then another and like that almost 50 candles lit, and all of them encircled around me. I was afraid and confused as well about what was happening. I was wondering why the ghost hadn’t bruised me already, when someone shouted, “Woooooohoooooo!” It definitely wasn’t sound of a ghost, I thought. While I was wondering, the lights turned on and all them shouted, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHNY!!!” OH MY GOD! They were my friends! I then figured out that all of it was just a trick to surprise me. The trick worked perfectly, indeed! I’ll never forget it; really a lifetime and wonderful memory. I laughed hard, hugged them and told Neil-The Storyteller, “You got me! Hahahah!” “I know right dude!” He laughed. All of my friends from the office sang the birthday song to me and then we ate a lot and partied all night.
It was the best day of my life, which I’ll never forget.
Thanks a lot guys!

I am trying to practice to create suspense and create a twist in writing stories.
All of this is a fiction! :D
Tell me how you felt about this story.
Yow guys!

I was looking at profiles of various artists, especially static characters and found that their characters not only have good palette but a certain, well... character to them? XD

That inspired me to make something like it and try something like that.

Here's the character:

Help me improve at palettes, and structure, anatomy etc.

Thanking in advance

EDIT:

Made this piece today, in an hour or so. I am trying to do some real art now, experimenting things. So tell me how this piece looks:

Title of this piece is: Why is it hard to be Unique?

I hope the title clears the weird look of character and background and also tells why image has broken heart?
Hey guys,

I've been working on a resource pack for BYOND which got listed recently. You can find it here. I've made a mockup using the resources I've made with different versions.

Version 1:

It has too many colors plus has some unfixed material.

Version 2:

Made this recently and has some fixed items.

Version 2.1:

Same mockup but with 8 colors, gives a retro look huh?

Version 2.2:

Same mockup but this time it has 16 colors.

Tell me which one looks better and how it can be improved.

Thanking in advance.

I am trying to make a great palette of 16 colors to possibly make everything that a game needs. This is what I have made.

And this is what I have made using this palette:

Well I know about DawnBringer's 16 color palette but I want to create one of my own.

Do not expect much.

Hey all,

Did you think this project was dead!? Well then, you were completely wrong. We have been working hard on the game, completing things we wanted to present on alpha. Though we planned to release many things but because of my strictness to release the Alpha version by 30th, we've been rushing some things and that's why we are telling you: Do not expect much from this Alpha.

What we will be offering:

For Alpha version we will be releasing only one race i.e. Tatvas(Element Controllers in your language).

Few Main-Quests and some Side-Quests.

Trainable Skills.

Places to explore.

<s>Destruction system: You can blast buildings, destroy plants; whatever you want to blow :P</s>

What we are planning to provide in future:

Human Race: Their skills, modern weapons, modern environment, vehicles.

Mountable animals for Tatvas.

Reconstruction systems.

More places to explore.

Basically, whatever we promised in the 'Introduction'.

When will Alpha version be hosted?
So you are excited already?
The Alpha version will be hosted on 30th August, around 7:00 p.m.(GMT +5:30).

Fan the Game or join the 'Waiting List' to know when the game is up!

Stay Tuned!

What is Fight of Elements?

Fight of Elements is an action, adventure, PVP, RPG game. The game is based on the book named Fight of Elements: Volume I by Aastikya Tiwari.

Gods had created homo-sepians. Eventually, they divided into Humans - those who ruined nature to fulfill their needs and Tatvas- those who worshiped nature and considered nature to be the 'supreme power'. Humans with the help of technology are trying to devastate Tatvas to take control over their land, whereas Tatvas are blessed by nature and gave them the ability to control it's powers.

Control the power of nature or Use technology! Descision is in your hands!

How is it different from other games?

We have tried to bring everything into this game to make it unique and very much fun! We are trying to bring two different time zones for a unique feeling; we will be having a country for Humans who will live in a Modern World like ours and enjoy the power of technology. They'll have buildings, skyscrappers. Not satisfied yet want something else, want action, then we have that too to offer! Humans get different types of weapons! Use machine guns to kill em all or use grenade to blast anyone or create robots or join the army and attack 'em all!

Tatvas will live in a country which still follows the medieval age and try to harm nature as less as they can. You can have the feeling of medieval age if you choose Tatvas. You can have AoEs, you can create earthquakes, destroy buildings and what not!?

I've got more though! Humans will be able to ride vehicles, use air-crafts for transportation, see airports! Tatvas will have mountable animals, dungeons, puzzles. Will be adding many mini games for both races as well!

When will the game be up?

We are close to alpha. The Alpha version should be up by the mid of August.

A small video of the game

Excited? Stay tuned!
