Was this intentional or did someone happen to find it?

Was it removed on purpose?

When can those of us who didn't get it in time get to see the cool new features?
BYOND always made every build available on the builds page (intentionally), hence why some people got it, but I have no clue why some are unavailable now.

They just moved the beta builds to a different location, possibly because of [link].

Or probably just not to confuse new people, or people who are unaware that 455 is currently in beta testing.
either way it's still avaliable in the same directory as before + /beta

Excellent. Thank you both.

The reason is that while you can get the release from that builds page, you don't get any additional information available to the beta testers, such as documentation, beta bug reports/confirmations/fixes, beta tester discussion, etc.

Then, in ignorance of this additional information, you get confused about things or complain, etc., even though that makes no sense. There are reasons for beta testing, such as getting the problems out before release---so complaining about unreleased beta problems that are likely to be fixed before release is just stupid.

By trying to move the beta builds a little further from the public eye, the goal is to cut down on such confusion. It's fine for people to get the builds, but the usefulness of unreleased beta builds is questionable given the lack of documentation/discussion/etc. that the beta testers have available.

I'm going with more that this particular build changes the way a few things presently work. As such, there are bound to be bugs and the powers that be didn't want the bug tracker and features forum filled with bug reports that have already been reported (and probably fixed) as well as complaints that are unfounded.

That's part of it, but to make a direct comparison:

Because this release will confuse people without proper documentation, it has been hidden (sort of)

Oh sir, you missed my first sentence "I'm going with more that this particular build changes the way a few things presently work.".

That's the qualifier that made the remaining sentences make sense. If you've been beta testing, like you should be (naughty boy!), you'd note that a few older games are having issues working as they should.

Hence, bug tracker and features forums being filled up with stuff already known, reported and worked on. You're looking at it from a purely programming/development perspective, but there's always ulterior motives. ;)
It would be nice if the changelog would at least be posted somewhere. I'm not a beta tester (though I'd like to be one) but I am very curious about all the changes that have been made so far.

A changelog would be great; it might even get some people to stop asking questions.

Yeah, a changelog would be great, but I'm pretty sure they don't want to release the changelog of something that's still in testing. Not only because it hasn't quite been "officially publically released," but because not everything is really set in stone.
