Teridal is currently undergoing massive changes. These Teridal Log posts will keep you up-to-date on the changes.

What's New

Majority of the work done since the last Teridal Log post has been internal system changes. Almost every old system from Seika has been redesigned and countless new systems have been added.

Interfaces galore. Majority of the game is now featured in custom interfaces. Below are a few screenshots of a few of the new interfaces.

One of the newest features added into the game are achievements. Achievements are brand new, so they are currently only for something to do, but soon players will be able to purchase fun items if they have the required amount of achievement points. There are currently only about 80 achievements in the game, but hundreds more are soon to follow.

On the content side, new caves, new monsters, a new castle, four new bosses, and countless new icons and items have been added into the game.

So much has changed that just logging in and seeing would be faster than reading about it all, so this post will focus more on what is to come.

What's To Come

Classes were put off for a bit due to the game needing a lot more work to make way for them, but they are coming very soon.

Below is a list of some of the upcoming features in the near future.
  • Skill For Hire
Skill for hire will allow players to give the required craft materials to an NPC along with a small payment. Players with the proper skill will then be able to search the list and volunteer to craft the item for the payment in return.
  • Looking To Buy
Added to the auction house, a way for players to list an item they wish to buy along with the price they wish to pay. Other players will then be able take the payment in exchange for the items.
  • Alert Interfaces
All alerts, inputs, and other menus will be redesigned with custom interfaces to better fit into the game.
  • Instanced Boss Rooms
Teridal will feature full instanced dungeons in the future, but for now, every boss room will be instanced (aside from PvP castles) to allow multiple parties to fight the same boss at the same time and to better control the fights.
  • Classes
As mentioned in the previous Teridal Log post, classes are coming to Teridal. There will be 10 classes with 3 specifications each. A rough draft of some information about classes can be found at http://teridal.com/Classes.txt.
  • PvP Content
Teridal is mostly a PvE game and most other games around BYOND are PvP based, so in order to spark some interest for those players, Teridal will be getting massive PvP content updates. Objective PvP battles will be added along with arenas for players to fight it out for battle points and even experience for people who wish to level via PvP. Hundreds of new rewards for PvP will be added.
  • More Interfaces
Interfaces will continue to be added and improved upon.

Still To Come Later On

Teridal will be getting a complete overhaul of the graphics and maps. The new world map will be massive and the players will be brought into a true massive adventure world. Most of the graphics will be redone and tons of new content will be added.

Along with the overhaul, Teridal will be given quests and instances and other major features to give the game a true online RPG feel.

Much more details to come in the months ahead.

Play now!

This has got to be one of the biggest BYOND games out. I have yet to try it either... which is a shame after reading about it. The only thing that keeps me from playing is the graphics. Reminds me of RM2K, and thats really outdated. After the graphics overhaul, I might check it out. Good work on the content you showed!
I wish I could make a game like this.

Updates look great though, however this game just seems like a BYOND WoW to me.

This game came out before WoW. However, the new interfaces resemble modern MMOs like World of Warcraft.
I love this game, unfortunately the computer I'm currently using causes me to lag something awful. I will have to wait until I sort my own computer before I can get stuck in.
I'm so glad you got my LoTR reference in there before Bloody decided to throw profanity around the World Chat.
I'm curious about one thing:
Instanced Boss Rooms
I just wonder how you're going to pull this off? My first thought is swapmaps, but I'm wondering if something new might've came along.

Well, for the boss rooms, it'll basically be a fake instanced system. Multiple versions (or templates) of the room on the map already, giving players one when needed.

Later on when entire dungeons are instanced, they'll use something much like SwapMaps.

Ah, so there will end up being an internal limit of how many parties can go whack one guy at any point? To be honest, I was considering doing something like that as well, because I kinda feel swapmaps needs an update before it should be used, but that is a lot of space on a map.. =/

Well, there will only be a few of each room. Not enough people play right now to justify very many and there are so many bosses that the odds of a lot of people fighting the same boss at the same time are slim.

I'll be making the instances much like I did with the Feval map editor instead of actually using SwapMaps. It doesn't actually create new turfs or anything, it just edits the variables like the icon, icon state, and density of the default turfs. So they load very quickly and don't affect performance.
I have a small problem with the interface in the game that effects gameplay. Majority of the border images don't load and result in blocky white lines. At the bottom where the attack button should be nothing loads. Also, I cannot see the equipment icons to see what I am wearing. What should I do to correct this? I tried to clear cache but that wasn't successful.

Normally a simple relog would fix it. If not, try clearing the skin. You can do so by pressing F1 while logged in. Go to Client->Edit Skin and a folder should open up. Exit Teridal, delete the files inside the folder, then log back in.
Thanks that seems to have done the job. As a suggestion, it would be nice to know the stats of items before buying them. Unless that is already somehow possible?

Currently, you can shift+click on the item to see details. You'll be able to just mouse over it to see the details soon.
