Just wanted to let people know what was going on with me and projects I work on.

A couple weeks back my computer crashed and I lost months of work. I lost my latest work on Teridal (but not a whole lot, since I was taking a break from it), and all my Feval 2.0 work. Basically the source I have for Feval is the source from years ago (since I hadn't updated it for a long time before 2.0).

I was pretty upset (and now make backups every night rather than every few months, haha).

Anyway. Sadly, I will not be redoing my Feval 2.0 work in DM. I am now redoing the game in Java/Flash. It's already in a playable state with networking and all, but not quite ready for the public and nowhere near where Feval 2.0 was.

I still plan on having the new version on BYOND (not sure how anybody feels about this), though. There will be a "hollow" DM server that is basically a Dream Seeker window with a browser control that loads the Flash game in it. And of course I'd gladly embed the game into Feval's hub page if BYOND plans on supporting non-DM Flash games (which would be a very smart move) on the hub once BYOND Flash is done. BYOND.com could just be a portal for games, made in DM or not, and DM could just be a nice bonus to help people make games. If not, oh well, but Feval will not be made in DM anymore.
Either way, Feval is fun.
Y u no make back ups!?!

I did, just not often enough. I was pretty busy working on stuff and getting serious work done. Wasn't even thinking about backups. Not to mention all the IRL stuff going on at the same time, but, I wont get into any of that. :P
Why not get in contact with someone who has a DMB extractor? The one's who have them typically are willing to do it for the very reason you described.

Because what they spit out isn't exactly ideal. And this was a good opportunity to port the game to Java/Flash.

You deleted Feval 2.0 didn't you! Just so you had the oppertunity! Or you still have it, just making us think you lost it so we wont nag you for patches :O
Just kidding, looking forward to the flash version.
Download and use http://www.dropbox.com, I use it, makes me have no fears in regards to my sources as it syncs automatically, so if my computer crashes it's in the cloud.
Unfortunate that we all have to learn the hard way about backing stuff up before we actually start doing it. Do you know how frustrating it is to have the computer freeze up just as you're about to finish the final paragraph in an essay? It's a pretty intense FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUU moment.

Now, I hit that damn save button in Microsoft Word like 50 times when I write papers.

That's why i use Google Docs, it automatically saves stuff, and its on the cloud, so it can be accessed from any computer. :) Screw Microsoft Word.

I was wondering why people were using Google Docs as opposed to Microsoft Word...
Sorry about the losses, but I'm glad it's given you the opportunity to extend your work into Java/Flash. Perhaps this is for the best. :)

Not sure if stupid or trolling...

Towers, should just ignore comments like that and pretend you can't see them, as it's just feeding them.
an intolerable dictum indicating aspersions toward a respectable compatriot shall not undergo any sensation of neglect on my behalf

am i deemed clarion?
100% Srs. RSC Extractors are not something you want to play with. Seems like a stupid idea.

RSC Extractors only grab files from existing .RSC files that have nothing to do with the source code (though if you do find any source from a .RSC file, it is likely because the source code stored it or simply because someone sent source codes). To be able to obtain the source from a .DMB file through a program, you must have a working DMB Decompiler. Even then, one shouldn't expect the same exact results.

I respect the effort. It seems Enzuigiri has some sort of need to attempt to make people seem stupid. Luckily, this backfired.

@Enzuigiri: I'm not sure why you believe me to be a troll, or stupid, because my comment was pretty valid (at least to what is known of DMB decompilers). Aaiko expressed why he wished to not use one, so that is that. You seem to have DMB and RSC intertwined in your brain, which doesn't reflect that you are stupid, just ignorant. Which is fine, except when you attempt insulting someone who knows a few things that you don't. Bandock already explained the difference, so there is no need for me to restate it. So, there is some knowledge for you so you can actually understand what you are talking about, and I hope that one day you will stop trolling people on BYOND. Unfortunately, hell will never freeze over, so that's that. :/
