Last week, a bunch of people off some website I go on arranged a meet up. It was actually quite good and no paedophiles turned up (I was looking around a lot >_>). Here's a photo (I'm top left) - 3 other people who turned up aren't in it though:

Sorry about the red eye but I can't be bothered to attempt to remove it. Everyone but the girl on the left is going to do maths at university.

Tomorrow, I have both my Economics (units 5 and 6 - essentially just micro and macro) and Biology (central concepts + unifying concepts) exams. At this moment in time, things aren't completely bad. I think I've done reasonably in my AS, definitely sufficiently well to score As overall this year. There's still hope.

However, after tomorrow, all that hope may shatter. I write this post as a reminder to myself of a better time (on the assumption that I fail tommorow).

I missed my BYOND anniversary for the first time in 4 years =(. Probably because I barely ever use BYOND anymore and haven't done any programming for about a year, but still, it's quite sad (it's actually the opposite of sad in one meaning of the word sad).

No, this won't be the emotional post about how school has finally ended. It'll actually be the "I'm so glad school is about to end" type of post.

Yeah so school started on Wednesday (today being Thursday). I have to say, it is pretty dull. It's actually unbelievable how long I think this year will be. Today, I had my first biology lesson (of the year) and about one period in I was already bored and thinking "Oh crap, I've forgotten everything I 'learnt' last year. And oh crap, I've just remembered how boring biology is. And oh crap, I think the teacher is staring at me as I look out the window, day dreaming". On the plus side, I had quadruple maths today for the first time ever. It wasn't quite QUADRUPLE though because we, the further mathematicians, were made to do slave work by carrying a bunch of boxes filled with books up a flight of stairs.

The lessons themselves aren't really annoying though. I'm actually quite happy with my teachers right now (granted, I haven't seen my second biology teacher). And the people in my classes are actually alright as well (aside from the fact how only my biology has girls in it). No, what's annoying is that we have to pretty much be ready to apply to universities by Monday. Personally, I think it's absolutely ridiculous. What's REALLY annoying me is everyone around me. You see, lower down the school, we used to be all boys. But when you enter the year below mine, your year would get mixed by an introduction of around 60 girls. I find every single person in the year below ours really irritating. They've like abducted the school. Any where I go, all I see is them. I've barely seen most of the people in my year but I'm sure I've seen at least 80% of they year below me.

Another thing that's annoying me is the amount of free periods I've got. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not asking to have them filled with lessons or anything. I'd just prefer to go home early (well no, I'd prefer to go in to school late actually). In the free periods, we can do what ever we want. Go outside, watch TV in the common room, work or "socialise". But really, it's just so stupid when you're just sitting there for all of break time (20 mins) + a triple free (35*3 mins) + lunch time (1 hour) just to go to a stupid biology lesson.

Yeah anyway, the only reason I hit the add post button was to show everyone my timetable. I have no clue why I started monologuing. So, here it is, not that anyone cares:
I've never been a great appreciator of literature. I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't NOT appreciate it, but I don't exactly go out my way to read lots of "good" books or lots of poetry or anything. I more or less just let things come to me.

But one day, I was searching on Google for something quite random when I came across what appeared to be some sort of article on this guy's ex-girlfriends. It was 3 AM, I was alone and bored, so obviously, intrigued, I opened it. And the stuff on there was actually quite funny and interesting. I've never really seen authors catch my interest when I read, I more or less read because I either have to or because the topic is interesting - not because of the quality of the written work. But with this guy, it was different. Not only were the stories interesting, I actually wanted to read more. Having gone through almost every post of his, I'm now a fan of his and I just thought I'd share it with anyone still bored enough to be reading this.

I like stories about his kids the most. These ones, in no particular order, are my favourites though:
Let's suppose there are 5 leprechauns that have a height between 0 - 2 (units don't matter), 3 leprechauns that have a height between 2 - 7 and 10 leprechauns that have a height between 7 - 12. We want to find out how many leprechauns there are that have a height between 3 - 10. Now, I have a method of answering that. But can anyone think of a common BYOND/video game related problem where knowing how many "leprechauns" have a height between a certain boundaries? In other words, can anyone think of a situation where we need to know how many things are in a group?

If you've never tried it, you might be interested in my game Pebbles. Some of you have been impressed by Rex's AI, here is a brief and simplified explanation of how his AI works:
http://members.byond.com/Abhishake/files/Rex.doc

You will need to know what binary is in order to understand it even vaguely.

Here's a link to the game:
So on Saturday I went on the computer at like 10:40 PM. Around 11:00 PM I turned away from my computer and was staring into space when suddenly I saw some sort of bright light in my vision. It was the sort of thing you see after looking at a bright light. So I thought it'd go away in a few seconds or something but it persisted. I ignored it and carried on with the computer except the light was actually blocking out bits of the computer screen. I got scared and went into my room and waited for it to go away. It still wouldn't go though, by now roughly 5 mins had passed, so I turned off the lights and sat there in darkness. I could see the light even brighter than before since it was dark now. So I woke up my mum, who's a doctor, and she got pretty worried about my eyes. She doesn't know much about eyes though since that's not her field in medicine but yeah. So anyway roughly 15 mins after the problem started, the light went away.

I went to get it checked out today by some big time doctor person. I had to get up at 6:30 AM to get to my 8 AM appointment which was absolutely ridiculous I thought but yeah. The doctor did a bunch of tests and eventually diagnosed stuff. For those who haven't read my DeathAwaitsU blogs, or who don't have a good enough memory, you should know that I see stuff floating around. This is caused by proteins in the liquid stuff in your eye (called the humour) solidifying and everyone gets it, it's just that some people are more aware of it than others.

So anyway, the doctor says that the light was caused by a migraine. Since when did you get migraines in your eye? But anyway it seemed convincing because he said he's had it himself and he thought it was brain cancer or something. He said the floaters are just natural. But he also diagnosed that I have hole in my retina. The retina is the part of your eye which light actually hits. I think it converts light into electrical impulses, by rods and cones on your retina, and the impulses are carried into your optic nerve which goes into your brain to be processed. Right so holes in your retina can lead to retina detachment which probably means you're going to be blind. Luckily it's treatable but I don't actually have retina detachment and there's only a 1/100 chance of it happening he said.

He also said that there's no point in treating the holes in my retina because it's more likely that it'll lead to more problems than solve the minor risk.

Just thought I'd share that story with people.

Right so apparently our school has a hockey team which literally no one knows/knew about (including myself). And my form tutor (basicly a teacher), Mr. Rose, told us once that we should all try doing something extra-curricular that involves a team. So I wanted to join the badminton team, which Mr. Rose controls, but he told me I have no chance of making the team (and I'd like to believe he said that because the team is full >_>). So then my only option was the rugby team, the football (real football, not American - and if anyone starts debating this I will delete their comment) team or the hockey team. Now I really don't get on with most people that do rugby so that was out. I can't play football because I'm malcoordinated in certain parts of my body (because I was born left handed but then changed to my right hand when I was 4/5 which has left me pretty messed up in certain areas). So my only choice was the hockey team which suited me fine since it was probably my second favourite sport, next to badminton, anyway.

Towards the end of last term (semester), someone got to choose people to be on the team and I was one of them (since I'm not too bad at hockey). Then at the start of this term someone else decided to take charge and again this person put me on the team. Then yesterday my chemistry teacher, who runs hockey, decides to not put me on the team! I was so annoyed but it's not like I could do anything - what I did like though was how a lot of people on the team thought I should be there too. I was so annoyed because the teacher actually came up to me last week and asked if I was free on Thursday and is like "Yeah, you definitely should play" and I was on the 2 drafts of the team. But anyway, we played hockey for a while and 5 more people made the team, including myself which cheered me up a bit but meh.

So then today we had the match and we got totally annihilated. In the first 3 mins or so, the other team scored twice! They were so good it was unbelievable. They kept 3 people around the ball so as soon as you tried tackling them they'd quickly pass to one of the people around it and then continue in this awesome undefeatable triangle. And as soon as they'd get close to our goal they'd pass it to two of the people near the goal and bang, they score.

The game ended as 9-0 -_-. But in our defence, majority of us had only been playing for 1/3 of a year (and one person for like a week?) where as their team had been playing for 4 years!

To top it off, I also had a 101 fever the previous night and a fever in the morning before the match. As much as I'd like to blame it on the illness, it didn't hold me back today - we were just out skilled completely.

Ah well.
