I've pondered whether to breach this project into Isometric. Technically, it could look nicer, less blocky (even though it will essentially be blocky gameplay wise) and perhaps fit more onto the screen.

It would also mean a bit more work, but nothing too bad.

I've attempted this shot at what it might look like. Obviously, my icons for the planets shown is simply the same to save time, but I'd almost certainly change it (any graphics you do see mind, is largely temporary or expecting further facelifts). The icons I've tried for the suns (same size to save time, but would make alternative sizes to represent larger/smaller suns) are already better than the version I showed before. On the far left, I also attempted some buildings, just to see how it might look (these aren't being kept, just for practice and theory!). I must say I think the project would look better in Isometric.

The reason why I toyed with Isometric as well is because I need to rewrite sections of the code already anyway. I wasn't sure as to what sort of depth I wanted to allow before, but I've made up my mind that I'd rather have the ability to create an entire universe rather than a single planet from a single system from a single galaxy (you get the picture).
I believe the isometric perspective would work well with the Dreamland project. Keep us updated with the progress!
I also agree with isometric.
You got my hopes up. I thought this was going to be Kirby related.
Yeah it feels like a no brainer, its definitely better in Isometric! What I'm planning to do is adapt the game so it loads and saves as well as what I stated in the post. As well as making the stars prettier and intending to size them depending on their type, I'm going to work on planetary types (currently, all planets and moons are all "rocky" types).

I'm determined then to make a "map" of known Extrasolar objects such as Stars and Planets, which I'll probably release (and then get back to coding life stages :p).

Lol.
Isometric ++
I just read the post regarding the concept. Sounds interesting! I can't wait to see this in action.

yea++ iso
Thanks everyone for your comments.

If your really lucky, I might have a little treat in store sometime tonight of some further progress! :p

(And by that, I mean more than a screenshot).
