Alright, so just a bit over a year since its inception, SurviveThis has its Halloween 2010 update. I do admit I wish this was more, but its been a massive overhaul of many features previously in the game. I wish I had time to talk about all the features included, but if you read the long list up changes and updates, you'll get the general jist of the matter.

Bug Fixes:

An error would mean that America would suddenly get negative millions of Zombies at day 43 (When Europe Dies) fixed.
- This would lead to the Americas leading a natural life span of about 200 days, where the fixed version it dies at 57!
You can no longer change options during a game, which is quite handy.
Melee weapons you collected would transfer to the next game, rather than be removed, fixed.
A very minor issue, if in a themed game being hit with a barrel trap and crippling would sometimes come with a graphical error.
When rebooting, the floor tiles wouldn't change back to the default grey tiles, fixed.

Changes:

"File" menu name switched to "Options".
The default game you don't get resources on the first "day". Instead this is used to setup the games options and settings.
You now get notified of the relevent options you pick in the output box.
Updated population figures for 2010, and I've made an attempt to base my regions on actual countries.
- Middle East is 26 million less at 474 mill.
- China is 27 million less at 1,373 mill.
- Europe is 8 million less at 742 mill.
- Americas is 23 million more at 923 mill.
- And Africa is 19 million less at 941 mill.
- Asia is now 821 million, due to split up with India. No longer leads Zombies directly to Europe.
- India newly formed is 1,570 mill.
Default guns changed to reflect new weapon system, might change in future:
- Pre 1600: Stick. Craptackular, you'll want to change this quick.
- 1600-1935: Arquebus. First gun of the gunpowder age, still has its faults.
- 1935+: Browning Hi-Power. Fairly useful pistol but the era provides juicier weapons still.
Getting new weapons can give you up to twice as much starting ammo.
Searching for ammo has the possibility of being more rewarding, staged by how soon after the outbreak it is.
Melee Weapon searches are slightly harder.
Modified character icon menus ensure more space by grouping them up. Pretty easy to use, each category has another list.
Zombie levels are more in-line with population so one region/year shouldn't be equal to another for long.
- The rate of Zombies has also been reduced, producing a much smoother start for all regions except India.
Like Guns, body parts are only obtainable if it existed by the year you start in.
Better code management might help slightly with speed and download size.
Region option has now been switched to a click-on map. Its grid based, so its not perfect.
Slightly better odds of finding "Food" (although there is now a chance of finding medication).

New Features:

Different "Character types" allow for altered games, such as the starting day:
- Paranoid Hardcore Survivalist: Start on day "2"
- Weekend Conspiracy Freak: Start on day "7"
- Hopeless Average Urbanite: Start on day "14"
- Delusioned Zombie Denyer: Start on day "21"
Guns can now only be accessed if you are in the proper year. Don't expect to see your desert Eagle in 1900!
Survival Diary. When the game ends, you'll be presented with a fantastic diary based outline of your game exploits depending on your choices and what have you.
- The diary starts with your year and region, along with what day you started (depending on your character type). It also displays how many people in the world exists on this day.
- As you start it lists which players were there at the beginning.
- If people log in and out after the game starts.
- How you lose at the end of the game.
The years 1850,1800,1750,1700, 1600,1500,1400,1300,1200,1100,1000, 800,600,400,200,0 has become available.
- As this goes further and further back, the numbers will be more estimated, and even this figure involves a bit of personal estimation based on population estimates and quotations from various sources.
- Also as you go further back, medical and zombie knowledge gets worse, making zombie numbers higher.
- Subscribers get extra years, see below.
New region formed: India to cope with high numbers.
Zombies flinch when hit, as well as a bullet line so you can see when they are hit.
Africa and Middle east have a new sandy terrain.
3 New Zombie Types:
- Brain Zombies; These will move to dodge your bullets, requiring you to move about a bit more.
- Camouflage Zombies; These sneaky gits will be in camouflage making them hard to spot as they crawl towards you.
- Welder/Heavy Zombies; Tough as old nails, these can't be crippled, and can't be headshot. They are easily the toughest Zombie out there.
New, far superior weapons system. 9 weapons for pre-1600, 4 weapons for 1600-1900 and 42 weapons (the old system weapons plus a few extras) for 1900+.
- They all have different values of rarity in different regions, so you might find guns from the old version in more than one region.
- Stones (and a better version, the Sling) are unique weapons, as they don't require searching for ammo, its assumed you have enough hanging around. While still quite pants, these act as just-in-case weapons if you run out of ammo.
New sounds, for Bow/Crossbow, cleaning zombie guts.
Barrels now have alternative icons for extra flavour, but do the same thing.
Several icons now have more generic colourings for extra flavour.
Zombies go on fire when hit by Barrel traps or flamethrowers.
New body parts: (33)
- 6 New parts in set (Short Curls, heads).
- 6 New parts in set (Beret, heads).
- 6 New parts in set (Camos, body).
- 4 New parts in set (Camos, legs).
- 4 New additional coloured heads (Greys and Whites to the 2 older head options).
- 3 New parts in set (Toga Set, body, legs, arms).
- 2 New parts (Stola Set, body, legs)
- 2 New parts (Lorica Hamata Set, body, legs)
- 2 New parts (Prehistoric Set, body, legs).
- 2 New parts (Scars, heads).
- 1 New parts in set (Balding, head).
- 1 New additional trouser (Olive Drab colour).
Added new feature: Emotions and traits. You have four emotions, each of which has 2 sides. This creates 16 possible combinations, each of which has a trait.
- Currently each trait either has 1 negative or 1 positive trait, in future it will be one each, with a greater variance (only 4 different types in total in this version).
- Should be able to split it into 2 groups as well, Followers and Leaders.
Food Status bar gives you an indication of your food stockpiles for a weeks use. If its full, your safe.
Day, Metal and Fuel added to new label next to weapons/ammo.
Zombie guts remain when Zombies are killed. These can be cleared with the B key (same as Barrier fixing). You get a point for each cleanup. Going over them cuts your health.
- Zombie guts also attract more Zombies, so its best to clean up.
Health is now an issue. It'll go up naturally one a day, going over Zombie Guts cuts it by 1, living with goats cuts it by 1 per day. Health effects accuracy and battering damage.
Medication can also help raise health, at 2 points if it is 5 or more, and 1 point if it is less than 5. Medication can be found within Food searching.
Players are now different colours for different regions.
