Common feature this seems to be becoming! Anyway, alongside my efforts for Wargames 2 scenario improvements, is another build-your-own program. Law of the Board is another long running project of mine, tailored to Chess variants. Since I first released it, I've been gradually updating it with new features.

The next update, hopefully soon; will knock out one of two major features not yet implemented. The one I still need to do is drops, common in Shogi (Japanese) Chess. The one that will be available next though, is the river/palace system used in Xiangqi (Chinese) Chess.

In Chinese Chess, a river divides the board in half, although in reality it merely stops the Elephant piece from jumping over to the opposite side of the board. The Palace feature is a 3x3 square in the middle of each side, which acts as a box for the King and its guarding pieces making its own restricted section (although other pieces can come in and out as they please).

It should look something like the screenshot provided (or better, if I work on it :p).

There is also a few things I need to fix, so I'm aiming for an update fairly soon. On top of that, I'm making an effort of moving the pieces help into a separate window so you can look at it, close and reopen it at your pleasure without having to scroll up with awkwardness.

I may also simplify some other features along the way.
