Belgium has gone without a proper Government for an entire year, since 2010's elections due to continued failings to form a coalition. It has passed other national records set by Iraq and Cambodia for the longest running nation without a sitting Government.
Much of the trouble has been caused by the lingual split of the nation, which speaks French in one half, Dutch in another and with significant German speaking minorities. For years now the issue has proved problematic and functional Government has been few and far between even before the 2010 election.
Home to the European Union Parliament, few want to see it break up, despite it being the logical decision.
