One of the things that's been bugging a few players (and myself) lately is the lack of a gameplay link to the political ideology picked at the start of the game. Originally intended only for flavour, it was (like many other features) supposed to spread out eventually into a bigger idea which effected more issues.

One of my plans was to replace this part completely. Instead of picking a political ideology as part of a spectrum, there would be a new political leadership spectrum. On one hand would be how the head of state be categorised: a Monarch, a Dictator, a Prime Minister or a President. On the other hand would be the legislative branch: It would range from a fully democratic Congress, to a Parliament, then an Assembly, then finally a totally undemocratic Committee.

Depending on how these two areas connect will decide what "ideologies" is possible for your nation's Government, and as such its pros and cons. I'm planning on 8 different ideologies, the closer to Monarchies or Committees, the more limited the range. Players using Committees would be able to decide Ideology themselves, otherwise it'd be factored indirectly by their actions. Players would also have the ability to change some of these settings in-game, so one wouldn't have to be stuck with a King for a ruler the entire time.

I'd hope to have this in-game to some degree for its next version.
Sounds Good.
