Ok, so today I got my Hearts of Iron III mod working. That is a WW2 simulation game by Paradox, if you didn't know. Making mods for it is a bit fiddly, but thanks to a little help I've managed to get my first one out. You can see a screenshot of it here:

I would link to it, but unless you have an account on their forum, you won't be able to see it anyway. If by some chance you do, you can see it under my more newer username "Mikebloke" in the HoI III mods section.

The game allows you to split Korea from Japan into North Korea and South Korea (ie, in our timeline after Japanese surrender based on the Soviet-Allied lines used to deal with Japanese troops surrendering), but not a united Korea. My mod allows you to release the nation as one, rather than two.
My best friend is absolutely obsessed with that game. I personally don't see the attraction.
Only something different? Not completely different?
Nice.

Lol, its a niche market, which is why its developed by an "Indie" development team. Its like a very huge Risk. I don't play it obsessively but I still enjoy it.
Well, he and one of his uni friends are both quite into it. Perhaps it's designed for History majors, as they are both very much into history, politics and philosophy. Three subjects I don't really care for.
This game is fun, unfortunately it runs extremely sluggishly in comparison to HoI2, which is a shame.

Also online play is still terrible.
Yeah, its ok for me usually till about '43, then it starts to grind, about 2-3 times longer to do a month than in 36 (think its roughly 10 minutes on fastest speed in '43).

They are still patching it up, so who knows it might have more improvements.

I've been working on more of these kinds of mods, I have Aden (south Yemen), Trucial States (UAE+Qatar because Qatar is mixed with it) and Kuwait, but haven't got round to changing any ministers yet.
