Tall, thick-legged PC with demon helm, armor, and polearm standing in the midst of the eight non-human companion types:

I'm fairly happy with the Badger, Bear, Dog, Zombie, and Pixie, though I might shorten the Pixie up more and play with the y-offset. The tail end of the Cat needs work, the head of the Horse needs work, and the Slime needs just a little bit of detail.

I had placeholder art for the Guard and Archer, but they were based on the original PC icons (which were quite a bit smaller)... I'm not going to bother to update them until I'm sure I have the humanoid art elements in their final form. Because human-type companions can be "assembled" from the pieces and equipment used for PCs, they'll probably be one of the first areas of character creation to be expanded after the game is launched... but I don't want to just flood the game with meaningless choices. There will have to be something to distinguish each new Companion. That's why the first two are centered around close combat and archery... that's a quick and easy distinction.

I tried something new with the mountains for this pic, but neither they nor the trees are in their final form. Everything I do is too "modern" looking compared to the simple dots-and-lines of the plains and waters. I've had a bit of a brainwave about how to get them more in the style I want, though.
I did try a Zelda-ish fairy, and didn't like the results. Without different colors for details, it was just a blob.

(Unless you mean the modern Zelda firefly-like fairies, which is just not the concept I'm going for.)
