Sounds good, I changed that rule. And I don't find it too strict at all, games should have some sort of system made up for the players.
>I'm torn as to whether or not it's worth featuring these games at all. As you've noted yourself, no real examples of "unique" gameplay coming out of another game's source come to mind. I think we should just bar all rips (or whatever you want to call them). If a truly amazing game comes along that is a rip, we'll make an exception, or maybe it'll be so different from the original no one will even know it was based off of another game's source.
Well, if someone actually puts the time and effort to make an amazing game by using a source another game source, I think it should be featured. Whether that will happen or not, who knows(Not likely). Whatever the case, I'd like to keep the rule just in-case that one exception comes along.
>I think requiring help files would be a good general rule as well, as it goes along with the game being playable (e.g. can players play it without a help file of any kind?). I can't think of any classics we would risk losing, most of them are pretty good about including help files.
That idea was mentioned, and I was somewhat against it but now that I think about it; Most games already have help files in them. Although, some owners cannot put help files into their games since they no longer have the source, or like I said before quit BYOND. Although, if the owner no longer has the source I guess having the help files to be on the hub would work just as well?
If you want it in the guidelines, than so be it. I just don't think a game should not be allowed in BYOND Action just because it does not have guidelines. I think having it for featured games would work better.
