US National Debt



The national debt ceiling is currently set to $12.104 trillion.

In terms of percentage of GDP, you were worse off during WW2, but that was wartime, so might not count.

Good ol' Andrew Jackson managed to completely pay off the debt for a little bit.

The problem isn't that a debt exists, but how high it is. Even if you account for the past 200 year of inflation, our current situation is still far worse off than it has ever been, to my knowledge. About 800 billion or so of that money is owed to China, by the way.

Haha, you could buy all the world's Saudi Arabian oil, as well as some small countries, with that. You could probably use the remainder of the money to live a very, very, very luxurious life in a massive, 1x1 mile house.
