Two big ones. First one was suppose to be a gritty castlevania style forest. Only got as far as this.

Some hair and character art that I worked on to go with it.

This was the beginnings of a dark souls mockup. It also went nowhere. There was more than this done actually, I just cant find the rest of the work. Probably didnt save it.

Jeez, really old project that never got finished. Don't think I ever uploaded this before it died.

It's sad how some great pixel artists work for projects that never get finished while tons of programmers look for a pixel artist to work with (I know most of them fail to accomplish their goals. But it's still sad for those who really put their effort).

Your work is beautiful.
True, but I wouldn't just put it on the programmers. There are just as many pixel artists who never can catch up with their workload(myself included). Staying motivated for the time it takes to create a game is hard. Even harder is developing while not being paid, and having real life responsibilities to take care of.
Looks beautifull!

90% of the time... It's the programmer. The other 10% you'll run in to the same thing, but: a bit like this.
Well the scenery or environments look nice but honestly, the character bases kind of ruin it for me. The very thin legs and overly large, misshapen heads make the characters look anything but human. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be some kind of art style, but it's what I keep seeing in art topics here at BYOND. It just looks kind of creepy I guess. Maybe you could use bases like these for aliens or zombies, but I just don't think they work as normal human beings.

Please don't take this personally. This isn't directed at anyone in particular. It's just something that I keep seeing over and over again.

Also, I would never have a visible grid on my map, regardless of the map format, unless the world was literally made out of building blocks. Most of the time, there's just no point in a grid, it ruins the immersion, and takes away from the art. It would be like if someone painted a masterpiece, then proceeded to cut the canvas into a grid of squares. I don't even use a grid if I'm making pixel art, unless I absolutely must, so it wouldn't make much sense to use a grid in a game. There are a few obvious exceptions though, like board games or terrain editing features.
Yeah, that third mockup is from over a year and half ago, i've improved a lot. Most of this is old stuff, just looking through old folders and sharing it pretty much.

Looks good man, i've thought about making a mecha game a couple times now. I'm going to keep plugging on my RTS game though.
My favorite pixel artist on byond return, Admire your work!

The final, sci-fi looking mock-up is what really gets me. I absolutely hate that those graphics aren't in a game already. I definitely understand the trials and difficulties that lead to unused work mind you, I just really like how those graphics look. Everything except the sprite in it is really nice in my opinion.

I'm a pretty big fan of your work as well, Boxcar, so it's always interesting to see posts like these from you. I think the last time one of your posts caught my attention was the one with the wrecked city mock-up.

I'm a bit of an RTS fan, so given your art quality, I'll be looking forward to seeing what comes of your work on that!
These look terrific! Have you ever considered opening up your old art? I know there are a lot of developers that struggle finding high quality artwork like this.
