Hi everyone! I've been wanting to work on a space RTS for a while now. Here's an example of what I have so far. Uses built in movement, no libraries whatsoever. Really excited about making this title. The map will be 100x100x100. Accessing the other 100 will be through a 10x10 grid of "star systems" which may or may not expand to a 20x20 grid in the future. It depends on how well the game runs.

It will be MMO, and there will be multiple options in the game, fleet name, color, sub-color, etc. The game will work much like Homeworld for the PC where you have to collect resources from asteroids and space debris in order to expand your fleet. There will be 10-20 different ship types, 3 different starting motherships, upgrades, research enhancements, and much much more.

You will even have the ability to merge fleets with other players. This will hopefully lead to grand battles ranging several systems in size. there will be AI enemy fleets, controllable planets, space stations, and even stars.

Travel will be point and click for the most part and traveling between systems will require a "warp". In order to ward, all your ships must be docked and ready to leave, otherwise they will be abandoned in the previous system. Warping will take time to enact as well, depending on how far you're planning to warp. From one system to its neighbor will take 20 seconds while a jump of 2 or more systems could be anywhere between 60 seconds and 3 minutes, which can be crucial if you're under attack.

Planets that are inhabited by your fleet will become production plants for your fleet as well as giving a huge one time boost to resources. only uninhabited planets will be able to recover their resources while asteroids will respawn indefinitely to provide you with a short term supply. Planets will also be able to defend themselves against attack and you can quick warp your fleet to a distressed planet.

"What if I'm not online?" If you aren't online you planets and stations will gain huge benefits to defense and attack power, but will still be vulnerable to control.

There will be more info posted as necessary. Please ask away and let me know what you think about it!
Sounds like a persistent starcraft. Cant wait to try it.
Yes, that's kind of what I'm aiming for. I want it to be like civilization or Starcraft but with the ability to move your forces around a much larger map as well as having more people to play against with a much longer career for your fleet.
