Well, it's Object Oriented Programming, so there are some similarities. Java is more complicated, and considerably larger in general. It doesn't hold your hand nearly as much as DM does, but there are a lot more resources available for it.

It's definitely something you should do if you're up for it, learning new languages and gaining more experience with programming in general is a great way to get better.
