I'm trying to retrieve my BYOND key on my freshly-wiped computer. I keep getting this error:

BYOND Hub: connection failed.
Your network connection is not working or the hub server is down.
You will not be able to login over the network at this time.

Is the server down or is there something I need to try?

The server is up, although it's a bit slow in connecting due to a high load (that may be the problem). You can try logging in as Guest ".hub ping" to test it. It's possible that your "dantom-port" is misconfigured (although I'm not sure how it would get in that state). You can look in the seeker.txt file (in byond/users/yourname/cfg) to see what settings you have (dantom-port shouldn't be listed)-- if anything looks suspicious, just remove the file.

If the connection problems persist, we can email you a copy of the key.

.hub ping (as guest)

This key does not have access to BYOND Hub.

Contents of Seeker.txt:

version 312
show-login off
seeker-window m700x660x100
seeker-splitter 200
seeker-url
seeker-name
last-url byond://198.3.92.62:2047

Deleting this didn't help.

Which file keeps the key information? If I can get this, then I can get that file from my computer at home.

key.txt somewhere in your BYOND directory.

...ok. That was a bit obvious wasn't it. :-P

Thanks guys.

Try the .hub ping with that key as well. I forgot that the Guest key doesn't support that feature. Also, see if the Hub comes up after a minute or so; perhaps the client is just timing out too quickly while waiting for a response under the current load.

Here
C:\Program Files\BYOND\users\[Directory]

I finally got logged in on DreamSeeker...but I'm not getting a pager or any results from ".ping hub".

I'm currently behind a firewall, but as far as I am aware, it has never caused any problems with BYOND...other than usual pager problem that was "fixed" a few months ago.

I'm going to jump over the firewall to see if that helps...

hmm....seems someone at the ISP has been playing with the firewall. I'm up and running again. Thanks for the help.

My computer has this exact same problem, and I am indeed behind a firewall, and I currently have no idea how to connect to byond.
