Is anyone on BYOND skilled at chess? If so, do you play online ever, and are there any resources you would direct me to to learning chess? I've found an abundant amount of sources via Google, but I've always been a fan of hearing input from members of a community I'm a part of.
I've been meaning to get into chess for quite some time, but with a lack of any kind of chess club, it's hard to find people to play.

Chess is pretty easy to learn to play. I think a lot of people learn using an overview of the rules, but learn to PLAY (as in, skillfully) through experience. I believe the wiki has a good article on it.
In either case, I actually have a game you might like more than chess (if you wish to pursue games of thought). It's called "Go" and I can reference you to a nice place to learn to play it and play with people all day (or whenever you want to play). I used to be alright. I only ever played online for about a week, but that was about 6-7 years ago :\
If you have no-one to play with just try online. chess.com gives a tutorial i'm pretty sure. | |
