I wouldn't say there is much anti-Anime going around, actually. More a lot of hot air from parts of the Anime community who aren't actually all that affected by this. If anyone has grounds to blow hot air, it would be you guys once you release. But I'm sure you can appreciate Tom's position.
Well I've come to the realization that Silk is the one seeming to spout his arrogance all about.
You do have a point in terms of Tom's position.
I don't think we'll need to say much once we release the player count and general excitement shall speak for itself.
While I think Silk is arrogant, his blog post made sense. Some of us are happy something is finally being done about these anime and fan-games. IMO it's time to give it all a rest and come up with something new for a change. Flying around, killing saibamen, kamehamehas... we've all been there and done that. More importantly, you're at a disadvantage because your game has the potential of becoming extremely popular which would make a C&D more likely to happen. People who are creating original games don't have to worry about that at all.
Besides... is it really that hard to turn DBO2 into an original game, whilst borrowing a few themes from DBZ? Think of Bid for Power.
That's what my blog post explains.
It's not difficult to think outside the box. People just aren't willing to try and that is where the issue lies.
You can easily make a fighting game, and if you love Dragon Ball a lot, then just make a few things that are similar to Dragon Ball. Your game doesn't have to be Dragon Ball in order for you to have power ups, transformations, beams etc.
huge let down >.<
