Could someone give me a simple answer as to why BYOND makes my computer scream when running a BYOND game in fullscreen?

It doesn't make sense to me that 3D is easier to process than 2D with no lighting, shadows, reflection or complex collision. (Comparing Spirit Age to Lineage 2, City of Heroes, DC Online, Champions Online & Perfect World)
I'm not sure. What do you mean Scream?

Lag like fuck.
You play Perfect world? Gross.

Probably because it has to stretch icons and all that good stuff and BYONDs client is worse than Windows 98
Oh ,Thanks Lol
2D isn't a guaranteed easier render than 3D. It just is most of the time. For example, my computer glitches when I try to run 2D N64 games, but it plays Half Life 2 with no issues. I think it has something to do with compatibility. Like, there may have been a certain way N64 handled its graphics to where it's obsolete and not supported in more recent video cards, so it won't work properly regardless if the game should theoretically play smoothly or not.
From my experience, having a lot of transparent icons on your screen with hardware mode off lags lots.
If you're using transparent interface effects you're probably running in software rendering mode.
Turning hardware rendering on was the only way i could play SA locally without lag. otherwise i'd get what would normally be 40fps or so to around 5fps
No transparent interface effects, the game just slows down and I cannot understand why. It's not the first time it's happened to me BYOND has always been performing like this for years now, it has just becoming very upsetting now.
