Slamming guitars against zombies is scientifically proven to cause an annoying moaning+string breaking sound on a certain frequency that ruptures a zombie's eardrums, and the rupture reaching the brain thus killing it instantly. However, if the eardrums are already gone then you're pretty screwed.

Your also screwed due to the fact that the guitar is more or less a one time use weapon, seeing as it would break after one or two hit's to a zombie's head.

Eh, the machete is probably the best bet, because, while it's not exactly a sword, it's a many, many use, relatively light, sharp weapon.
Anyways, I'd say Pistol. Fast to reload, fast and easy to shoot, and very mobile.
Perhaps music can sooth the savage beast like it does in Dance of the Dead.

I went with a chain. It can be used to hit zombies, restrain limbs, or keep twin doors shut.

Good luck when a Zombie Apocalypse comes, Ghost Rider.

Good luck with you and your fail pistol. Honestly i'd use all the weapons.
Shotgun and Crowbar are probably the best up there, although it really depends on the type of zombie and scale of the infection.

A pistol might be good for a small scale infection of slow zombies, but for a large scale infection where you're going to be running your bum off, a shotgun is the way to go. And of course a crowbar is a great general tool for breaking into buildings, and brain bashing.

A machete is likely to get stuck in the skull, unfortunately, and relies on a sharp blade.

I think the book "Zombie Survival Guide" suggested the best melee weapons to be a shaolin half-moon staff or trench spike, iirc.
This is fun seeing the comments I'm getting, but I'd rather use Melee rather than Guns, Guns will soon enough run out of ammo, then you're screwed, Crowbar is the way to go, great tool and brain bashing.
Honestly, Zombies are dumb as hell, I would find a place that's really fortified, if they can't touch you, and they can't break the barrier, you're just fine!
I'd use ganing...as a decoy.

Or a black guy...

Those are two of the worst weapons on the list.

A shotgun is good, except for the fact that they are loud. Enjoy killing one zombie, only to alert thousands more of your location.
Firing any gun in a moderately populated place is as good as a death sentence for yourself. Do not do it.

As for a crowbar, a useful tool, a useless weapon.
As is any blunt weapon. If it does not kill in one hit, it is a useless weapon.

Anyway, on that list, the best weapon is a real machete, not some cheap imitation.
Real machetes are designed to be stupidly hard, sharp and require little maintenance.
Also, due to the design of them, they do not get "stuck" in stuff. Well, technically they do, but it requires a lot less effort to remove them than it does for an axe.

But machetes have a somewhat short range and are not a guaranteed 1 hit kill weapon (2-3 hits, depending on how strong you are will be enough to take a head off).
If all else fails, use a shovel.

the crobar is just as good as the machete, if not better as a weapon/survival tool.

You can use it to stab as well as a blunt object, and use it for opening doors.

Also, most zombies have a decent sense of smell for human flesh, so shooting a shotgun won't be too harmful as they're attracted to brains and not noise.

The shotgun is more for the "Oh shit oh shit" moments, where you're already being chased by hundreds of zombies. If you're only facing one, obviously you should use a melee weapon and conserve ammo.

I think I could smash someone's head in in one hit with a crowbar, especially if I hit 'em with the sharp end.

Also, I think blunt weapons are one of the few types that are acceptable if they don't kill in one hit, because you can easily go for a second hit.

A bladed weapon that requires a decent swing would get you killed if you can't reliably take out a zombie in one hit.
You could always use a katana and go full on Kenshin on their rotting asses.
I would use a sword or a pitchfork.
