Nice! Should look awesome when viewed in full parallax glory!
Nothing new with the GUI?
It's very pretty.
What do I think? Hmm, when I first clicked the images, my initial thought was rel='thumbnail'. But after that it was "Ohh! Purdy!" =P
Highly fappable ;-)
Linux? Does that mean there is a Linux version coming out? Or was that just WINE?

As for the graphics, the only change I saw was the background, which does look far better.

And, while we are talking about it, how are the sales doing?
I like both a lot. The first background is nice, though the second is much better for this case since it gives you a better sense of scale. The former might be good for any in-system stuff, if it came up at all.
The new one looks really spiffy.
Call me an antagonist but I don't really like the second one. Not that it looks bad or anything, it just seems like there's too much detail in the background which causes you to focus away from the planets. If the background nebulae were enlarged and/or blurred somewhat, I think it would be better. The sharp background might work if the game used star systems (such as with MoO), but I don't like it with planets.

(Or maybe I'm just thinking of Wazzal: http://www.monkkonen.net/wazzal/screenshots/shot005.jpg)

Thanks - this is the kind of feedback I was really looking for. :-)

I'll try a zoomed-in and blurrier version.

I was just dropping the alternative background in to see how it looked. If anyone has any suggestions for other improvements I'm always happy to hear them.

It did cross my mind that the planets and the sidebar aren't of the same quality as the new background. Might have to try and do something about that.

It's native. There is indeed a Linux version coming out, and for all intents and purposes it's done. I'll be posting a beta call shortly to get people to test it on different distributions.

Could be better. :-)
Okay, here's a blurrier and enlarged version of the background: Screenshot-Mayhem Intergalactic-3.jpeg

Thoughts?
The latter backgrounds are indeed an improvement, but I think it would help if the little white stars were dimmed; the high contrast from the black "space" to the white stars draws a lot of attention, more than the second image's level of detail did, I think.
I see your point. I'll have to experiment with that.

Anyone else have any opinions? Foomer?
I assume the white square on the planet means that it is your current selected planet, correct? If not, disregard this comment: Maybe changing said square to a mildly dark green. In most games I've ever played, green almost always symbolises "selected unit". And I'm afraid of change.
Yes it does, although it's yellow (it just looks white in the shot because of the JPEG compression). And it fits with the colour scheme, so I'm not changing it. =)

Well, as long as it's not white, that's fine. =P
I like the second better than the third, but I do think the contrast on it is a bit high. Any way to lessen the contrast of the nebula part of the image, without losing all the stars? I like the detail, just needs to be muted a bit. Very pretty Crispy :)
What is all of this for? Is this being done in BYOND?

If so, I'm genuinely amazed at what you have done.

I like the third one, but I agree, the nebula needs a bit of a tone-down. Just chill out a bit with the contrast, and it's good. It ought not draw eyes away from the interface or planets... Otherwise, your players will be more inclined to miss things that are going on in the game.
Not any more, no. =) I believe this post should clear things up.

I guess I could play around with the contrast a bit. To be honest I'm not too concerned about people missing the action though; the game actually goes out of its way to show you what's going on (moving your camera to view each battle in turn).
