I want to thank Teka for renewing the membership on this key. Totally unexpected, but much appreciated.
And for those wondering, yes we are still working on dbo2, things have just slowed down considerably.

We're Back! After a much needed hiatus;the purpose of which was so the majority of the team could finish our college/high school years, we are all officially back in action, and ready to get the ball rolling with the game.

Some of you may have had a chance to try out the combat in the current build of the game while we were doing open testing. I thought I would take this time to explain the combat system with a bit more detail:

Movement:
All projectiles in the game will make use of pixel movement. Player movement is handed by loop movement. Together, these two movement systems allow for smooth, quick, and exciting game-play unseen in any other Dragonball game on BYOND.

Combat Stances:
Before you'll be able to do any fighting in game, you'll need to enter combat stance. You'll generally unlock these as rewards for quests, among other means, setting them before a fight. There will be a myriad of combat stances to choose from within the game, each with their own stat boosts, to accommodate whatever build style you're going for. They'll have their ups and downs, so it will be important to know which one you're using and its effect. Some will have extra abilities as well. For instance, the wolf stance while providing its stat increase, would also allow more damage from using the wolf fang fist rush.

Melee:
In the game you have your basic three melee commands. Punch, Kick, and Block. Punches have a shorter cool down but do less damage, while kicks do more damage, but have a longer cool down. Blocking will reduce the damage that you would normally take from melee or Ki attacks.

Advanced Melee:
In addition to those, you have your advanced melee abilities, including Power Hits, throwing, teleport smashing, and countering.
The powerhit works as a powerful blow made to send your opponent flying back.

Throw works to grab and hold your enemy, choosing a direction for which to swing and throw them in. This most effective against blocking opponents.

Teleport Smash works as a follow up after sending your opponent flying back. Your character will appear behind your opponent and hit them again in another direction.

Countering works as a means to stun, or otherwise knock back your opponent if hit in within the time this is used.

Rushes are special attacks that will deal devastating damage to your opponents. These will typically work as special attacks like wolf fang fist, Kaioken attack, or Burning slash.

These abilities interact with the rush meter, which is built up through use of your basic melee abilities, and depleted through the use of the advanced melee abilities, each with their own cost.

Ki and Support:
Outside of melee, you have your energy attacks and abilities. These will be placed onto the hotbar and used with the macros 1-0. There are a large variety of these attacks each with their own purpose, use, and effect (ex. The solar flare technique, which would be used to blindness and target loss on your opponent(s) for a few seconds allowing for an escape, or attack from a further distance.)

Advanced Ki:
That said, the combat features dealing with ki are deflection, block struggles which will work to towards deflecting larger energy attacks, powering up, and beam struggles.

That is more or less it for the combat system of the game. There may be slight changes made here and there, but for the most part this is how the game will play in the end. In our next update we'll be discussing more of the content we have been working hard on, such as status effects, questing, and character progression in the game. If you've managed to read through all of this, thanks and i hope this has been informative to those waiting for this game.

We're going to be taking a break from development of DBOII for a month or two. I'm in my final quarter of college, needless to say ive got to focus on finishing, as are other members of the team.
All the hate and impatience has finally gotten to the team and i, were just too busy and cant handle all the complaining about this game anymore.

No need to continue building this game when the community clearly hates it. Its been a waste of time from the start anyway. Especially with epic games like GOA, Nestalgia, Decadence, and unfortunatly, even dbz dark apocalypse. Those guys know what theyre doing. We clearly dont.

So yeah, dbo2 is dead, it was alittle fun, but really hurtful too :(. I cried when someone said i only let people in the game, and the time when someone else said dbo2 looked and played horribly, and when they said it would never come out, and then when they asked to play it. BUT NO MORE! you all win. Its over.

Also, chris gayle, Quaddw, Xyberman, and even Sahil, zane and everyone else who worked on it, you all suck ass at what you do. Worst bunch of developers ever. your work looks like something produced from a kid with no hands, using an etch a sketch with his teeth.

This is totally not april fools, just happened to be this day. As for the games future, ill probably let it fester on my computer before deleting it.

Im going to canada.

Ok I have a few updates to cover in whats been going on with DBOII and DBOTeam over the last couple weeks since our last couple updates.

As you have bared witness to, we suffered a pretty serious de-moralizer as our art got released and to add salt to the wound BYOND Staff decided to keep our friend CBL here, but beyond that we blew off some steam rested a bit, and we started again.

Team wise all of us are still here except for Xyberman who is no longer a part of the DBO Team, but I'd also like to take a moment to acknowledge our newest member, Branks. Welcome friend.

Now! Onto what i'd like to speak about! Programming! New stuff! Yah!

What will I be covering this evening?

Pixel Movement!!!
Updated Radar!!
Line Density!

But before we start!

Updated Radar

Well if any of you had seen previous screen shots of DBOII you would have noticed that ugly radar to the top right, that big green/black blob of a radar. Well if you never saw it look at it.

Vomit break.
...
....
.....
......

......
.....
....
...
Ok welcome back!

Now whats new? It took me a moment to think about it but with few tweaks test and edits and loads of Pmitch saying "Can't radaz be rounz?" we've arrived at the product bellow!

(Bones represent the occasions Chris-G1 && Mitch didn't decompose properly.)

I think its one of those polish things, something that would just irk you while you play the game, but now that its there you'll notice it, and ignore it but somewhere in the back of your head you'll get that "That's a nice touch" feeling.

Line Density

Now this is one of those really great polish things yet again, I have two reasons to point this out, because I like it and more than likely during game-play you might never even notice it, and what programmer does a system and wants it to go un-noticed?

Well more than likely you've either played a game, or made your own game and you may have encountered something like a fence! *SCREAM*

Dramatic effect complete.

Well yes! Something like a fence, you may have noticed that these things tend to me 1->3 pixels on east and west sides, now, in BYOND density affects a whole tile, meaning you lay that 3 pixel down and a whole 32x32 tile becomes dense, that I must say, is ugly.

So I created a line density system, were in just a line in that said tile is regarded as dense, meaning you can step into that 32x32 tile but you cant step across the fence! OH MY! I think i'm going to use this system for quite a few boundaries, like the tournament ground edges, the city walls, fences, and anything else that it may look great on.

Voila.

THE GREAT PIXEL MOVEMENT

The last but by far not the least.

Now this just adds that much more depth.

DBOII's combat is very fast, the first time I came to the realisation that I needed to make objects move faster than BYOND allows them was during a test were Pmitch got a very cute shade of pink when he saw me outrun his Ki blast, hahaha yeah, I tried many things but the only thing that I figured would work properly was pixel movement.

Now you might have read about this in my personal blog post but I do believe i've perfected the system hence speaking on it again.

How is this effective? It gives me speed control BYOND's normal controls could never even try to promise me, it also removes the necessity for on-target homing as it can now go straight to the target meaning I don't have to use "walk_towards" which honestly looks disgusting.

NO MORE!

UPGRADE!

:D :) :] =D =] =)

Me owning Mitch.

Who ever told you it was a good idea to mess with your host?

Well yeah, there are loads of other stuff like new art, mapping updates, system edit/redos, fixes, polishes, edits. But I just felt like these needed some limelight.

Shout-outs to Cyberlord, Wtrbooger and a few other clowns i'll remember later on today :]

Also <3 Rugg, TNN, G1, Paulie, Germs! (Vermolius)

(Is re-reading and spell checking :])

Edit:
Lawl thank you Quad, there are no watermarks on the images since BYOND Staff doesn't really care if art is stolen and mass distributed. Plus why spoil the beauty of the post. <3</3>

Some of you who have been to the dbo site may have noticed we changed the domain on it (to phpbb) we had the basic layout going, but now thanks to 2shea (who designed the first site), we now have a new design for the site, and it looks pretty good so far.

The new site layout can be seen at http://www.DBOTeam.com

Also, we are considering putting up DBO Classic for those interested in trying it. Our main focus is DBO2 of course, but its something to play in the meantime. If we feel the need to, we'll do alittle bug fixing to the game, but nothing major.
