Hi I'm working on some icons for my Avatar game but I need some help on shading and details. Please give me some advice, i'd appreciate it.
-I want to make the door look like its made of timber
-and I think i need to shade some more of the building, but I'm not exactly sure how to go about it.
-Also the roof in general.
Thanks in advance.

If you had a picture of what your trying to build it would help alot better.

The building is original, pulled it out of my head.
I was just wondering if any improvements could be made to it. |

I would have to say a lot can be made. As you suggested you might want to shade some more. Don't just put a darker color over your colors and call it shading... its poor shading. >.< The building looks flat... but somehow you made it so that the roof seems to be 3D. Oh yeah.. Timber look. Picture what wood looks like or get a picture of wooden things then try to make it. I will try to help you with that.
Edit - It looks very plain add some windows. This may help:http://www.natomic.com/hosted/marks/mpat/shading.html |

This is my first attempt at making a building so I'm not to sure about the shading. Could you explain a bit more? |

If you read that Tut you should be able to understand. Its very helpful. :D
Here is a really crappy Earth Building.(Horribly, yes I made it! >.<) I threw in some different types of shading. If you look at the walls of the building it has the Dither shading. I mostly only use that if I want the object to look rough but it can be used in different ways. The roof has a layered shading. There is Light - Dark colors that point to the light source. My light source was Northwestern. |

Thats really nice, but I cant the left side of the shop showing, its going to be in game, and that makes it seem too 3d. But the shading helped alot. Thanks
